Google Calendar Gets Smarter: Gemini Now Automates Scheduling
Google Calendar’s latest update brings Gemini-powered automated scheduling, suggesting meeting times and helping you reschedule instantly, no more back-and-forth.
If you’ve ever spent too much time just trying to find a meeting time that works for everyone, Google has a solution, and it’s powered by Gemini.
As of January 26, 2026, Google introduced a major update to Google Calendar that allows Gemini to handle the most frustrating part of meetings: scheduling and rescheduling.
With this new feature, Gemini can analyze all participants’ availability and working hours, then automatically suggest the best possible time slots when creating an event. Instead of manually checking calendars or sending multiple messages, users can now rely on AI to make smart, conflict-free suggestions directly inside Calendar.
But the real magic happens when things change.
If someone declines an invite or a conflict appears later, Gemini proactively recommends a new time inside the event interface. With just one click, you can reschedule the meeting, no emails, no extra coordination, no wasted time.
This update turns Google Calendar into more than just a scheduling tool. It becomes an intelligent assistant that understands availability, adapts to changes, and keeps meetings moving forward without friction.
The feature is available now for Rapid Release domains, and it will begin rolling out to Scheduled Release domains starting 2nd February 2026.
